Mark Meadows: Democrats 'Going Crazy Because They Know Truth Is Coming Out'

House Republicans Jim Jordan (Ohio) and Mark Meadows (N.C.) blasted House Democrats over Wednesday’s decision to hold Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt of Congress

The pair also responded to former FBI Director James Comey’s dismissal of the allegations that the Trump campaign was “spied on.”

Sitting for an interview on CBS Wednesday, Comey said Republicans who keep making such claims “need to breathe into a paper bag.”

“The FBI doesn’t spy, the FBI investigates. We investigated a very serious allegation that Americans might be hooked up with the Russian effort to attack our democracy,” he said, adding the FBI had sufficient cause to obtain FISA warrants against then-Trump campaign adviser Carter Page in 2016.

Meadows, the House Freedom Caucus Chairman, said Democrats like House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) are acting “crazy” because they fear what Barr will uncover about the origins of the FBI’s Trump-Russia probe.

“In just a few days, you’ll start to see a lot of this unravel,” he said, adding Democrats refuse to even look at documents in closed-door hearings on the issue of FISA warrants and the FBI’s actions.

“Director Comey? He has his day of reckoning too. He says they ‘investigate,’ but we also know they criminally leak as well. It’s time for accountability.”

Jordan responded to Comey’s denial of “spying” by pointing to the New York Times report last week about the FBI sending a woman to meet with Trump adviser George Papadopoulos in 2016 as part of the investigation into the campaign’s links to Russians.

“If that’s not spying, tell me what is,” said Jordan.
